Sylvanian World

I made a sea otter shack!

My best friend inspired me to make a Sylvanian house for my family of Sea Otters, and last night I spent an hour making one! It’s made of corrugated cardboard, which I found is just a fancy word for cardboard stripped of the paper layer on top. It was pretty easy to pull off, and then I just carefully hot glued the walls to the cardboard base. Then I got some sticks and glued them on like rafters, and hung a little twisty-light that’s supposed to represent kerosene lamps. I attached some tattered fabric to the window, gave it a wooden trim with some random pieces of balsa wood, lined the door and made a bed that’s supposed to be an old fishing dock with plaid scruffy fabrics on top. I put in a bench and found a button I thought looked a lot like a paua shell which I put on the door and made a little doorbell that’s a string with a block of wood on it. I put another fishing-dock table out and put all my acessories in, glued some dirt and old grass on and voila! The perect sea-otter fishing house! The Clamshells live in it, and to match the wild drafty shack, I gave them different names; Father Badger, Mother Bramble, Smudge, Viper and Ivy. Enjoy the tour and the slideshow!
