I rode Ellie bareback for the first time ever??

Wow, just from the title you can tell it’s going to be an interesting post! Today I was expecting to ride Zion, but I ended up with Maz! First Jenna tacked him up and walked, trotted and cantered him around because he’d bucked in his paddock, and then I hopped on. I’ll admit, it was a novelty to ride him so fresh! He did excactly as I asked and trotted and cantered beautifully. Then Sophie suggested I canter him up the hills on the farm, so I rode him down, turned and cantered him back up! It was sooooo fun. Sophie showed me how to do a two-point position which is your jumping position, and it felt amazing when I cantered up again. The saddle came to meet me instead of me bouncing away, and she explained it let Maz fully use his hindquarters. Then I rode him back to the arena and Sophie asked me if I wanted to ride Ellie, and I said yes! So Jenna gave me a lesson on how to ride her, and you barely have to touch her and she moves on! I was slightly nervous about riding her because when I ride Maz out on the farm with Jenna and Ellie, she’s galloping and all prancy and spooky, but she carried me like an angel and didn’t put a hoof wrong. Then I asked for a trot, and it was amazing riding it bareback for the first ever time! She’s kind of bouncy, but wide and I didn’t fall off. I wasn’t sure about cantering her and decided to wait till the next oppiturnity, because she’d already been jumping with Jenna before. It was soooo fun and I’m so excited I did my first sitting trot, bareback, on Ellie! Jenna was really kind and gave me lots of helpful tips. Sophie was busy saying her final goodbyes to her precious mare, Mack, who injured her leg and has to be put down tomorrow. My wishes are with her and Sophie, and I drew a graphite drawing of her that I’ll frame and give to Sophie. She was in a lot of pain, so at least she can finally rest in peace, but that doesn’t make it easy for the people who adored her.
My ride today was absolutely amazing, and I am very grateful Sophie teaches me and that Jenna let me ride Ellie! I do love Maz and Zion though 🙂 Thanks for reading today’s post!
